SC22/WG20 N918 Subject: (SC22WG15.1624) Austin Group Status March 2002 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. March 25 2002 Sent: Monday, March 25, 2002 8:01 AM The Austin Common Standards Revision Group (CSRG) is a joint technical working group established to consider the matter of a common revision of ISO/IEC 9945-1, ISO/IEC 9945-2, IEEE Std 1003.1, IEEE Std 1003.2 and the appropriate parts of the Single UNIX Specification. As of March 2002, the final draft of the specification has been approved by two of the three sponsoring organizations (The Open Group and the IEEE). At ISO, progress has been slow, and we are still waiting for the final up/down ballot to complete --- note that ISO is not allowed to make any changes to the document in this final ballot. The Open Group and the IEEE have proceeded to make the document available in various media formats (note that the IEEE and The Open Group documents are identical). The IEEE has the standard available for online delivery in pdf and CDROM, to order a copy from the IEEE go to http://shop.ieee.org and search on 1003.1-2001. The Open Group has the standard available for online delivery in pdf and CDROM as part of its set for the Single UNIX Specification Version 3. To obtain a copy from The Open Group go to http://www.opengroup.org/pubs/catalog/un.htm (look for documents, T950X,C950,C951,C952,C953). The Open Group has also done a limited production run of the hardcopy published standard for orders, with the latest run closing March 31st 2002, please see http://www.opengroup.org/products/publications/order_forms/order.html The Open Group and the IEEE reached agreement early in January to produce a freely available html version of the standard on the web, and publication of the web version was announced on January 30th. See http://www.unix-systems.org/version3/ for information on how to register to view the free html version. A guide book to the revised standard is also available from The Open Group and includes a CDROM with the standard in pdf, html and text. See http://www.unix-systems.org/version3/theguide.html for more information. The focus for the Austin Group is now on technical corrigenda number one. The scope of this item is limited to bugfixing. The aardvark is available from the Austin Group home page at http://www.opengroup.org/austin/defectform.html to receive defect reports. There are currently 59 defect reports filed. It is anticipated that a meeting will be held during May or June to review defect report input to TC1. More information on the Austin Group can be obtained from the web site at http://www.opengroup.org/austin/ ----- Andrew Josey The Open Group Austin Group Chair Apex Plaza,Forbury Road, Email: a.josey@opengroup.org Reading,Berks.RG1 1AX,England Tel: +44 118 9508311 ext 2250 Fax: +44 118 9500110
